6 tips to stay safe when exercising in the heat


PORTLAND, Ore. — If you’ve obtained to get your exercise in, heat waves can make it robust to do safely. Here are some tips, courtesy of doctor’s assistant Andrew Bodmer of Providence Health & Services:

  • Exercise outside early, properly before the heat of the day.
  • If you’re used to operating on a sunny monitor, contemplate a shaded trail as an alternative.

  • Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! Drink fluids earlier than during and after your workout. Ice water post-workout will cool your physique temperature.
  • Listen to your physique and don’t break your consolation zone! Watch for signs of heat-related sickness, like clammy pores and skin, nausea, dizziness and vomiting. Or worse, confusion or disorientation.
